About the archive

The data products in this UMd Department of Astronomy archive are captured in the "ADC Dataset" XML standard and were the result of a multi-year project to translate legacy data into an XML format from an older "ReadMe" ASCII standard that was developed jointly by the ADC and CDS data centers. The ADC Dataset format inherits its data encapsulation abilities from XDF.

The original ADC archive has close to 4000 "datasets" (either published catalogs or journal articles, each with typically 2-3 tables) in the older "ReadMe" format. Currently only fraction of these legacy datasets have been translated into XML.

While the translation of these older data has been halted, we are currently working to enable public submission to the archive as part of our participation in the U.S. National Virtual Observatory. The public may access the exiting translated data from the links given below.
